Three units damaged in overnight Oak Park apartment fire


Three apartments were damaged in a fire late Friday night in the Oak Park neighborhood, San Diego fire officials said.

The blaze was first reported shortly before 11 p.m. at the Hillside Views Apartments on Bayview Heights Place, near Kelton Road and state Route 94.

When fire crews arrived, they found a ground-floor apartment heavy with smoke and flames that were spreading to unit above, San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Tommy Charpentier told OnScene TV.

All occupants escaped. One person suffered minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.

The fire damaged three units, and utilities were shut off to all eight apartments in the building.

The American Red Cross was called out to assisted the displaced residents.

The cause was under investigation.
