GOOD MORNING EUROS FANS
Gareth Southgate has exclusively told SunSport he did not want the England job — because of the pressure of picking squads.
Southgate revealed: “A few years ago I didn’t want the job for that reason.
“Because I saw what it did to previous managers and their families. So when my kids were younger, I didn’t want them to experience that.”
Meanwhile, James Ward-Prowse has missed out on a place in England’s Euros squad.
SunSport understands Southgate told the Southampton captain of the heartbreaking news on Monday.
Free-kick expert JWP, 26, has six caps for his country, four of which have come this season.
He netted his first goal for the Three Lions in March’s 5-0 win over San Marino.
Finally, Gareth Bale has refused to rule out retiring after the Euros.
The Real Madrid ace and Spurs loanee said: “Obviously there’s been a lot of things written about whether I’m doing this and doing that.
“I don’t want to say anything that is going to cause any problems on what I am doing or what I am not doing. My focus is just on the Euros.
“When the Euros finishes for us then I will sit down and decide what I want to do.”
