Man hospitalized after being stabbed in chest in downtown San Diego

A man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries early Sunday after an argument led to a stabbing in downtown San Diego, police said.

The 23-year-old man was stabbed around 2 a.m. on Sixth Avenue near Market Street, said San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez. The victim’s wife told police her husband was arguing with two men when they began stabbing him repeatedly in the chest, Martinez said.

Martinez said the assailants were last seen traveling south on Sixth Avenue and then west on Island Avenue.

One suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing black pants, an Adidas jacket and black hat. The second suspect was a shorter Hispanic male, wearing a grey shirt and grey hat.
