Fiery DUI Crash on Victoria Kills Pedestrian
COSTA MESA, CA (January 12, 2022) – Police arrested Jon Weir Wednesday after a fiery DUI crash on Victoria Street claimed the life of one.
According to the Costa Mesa Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:25 p.m. of January 4th, near Victoria Street and Placentia Avenue.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found a rollover traffic collision with the vehicle engulfed in flames.
Moreover the pedestrian victim, unidentified in reports pending notification of kin, died at the scene.
According to witnesses, 65-year-old Weir, the driver of the vehicle, had struck a man who was on the sidewalk waiting to cross the intersection.
Furthermore, police found out he had been driving under the influence of drugs.
Medics took him to the hospital for treatment non-life-threatening injuries and was later arrested Wednesday.
The eastbound lane of Victoria Street had been closed for an extended period of time following the crash.
