Houston Weather: Rain chances are on the rise

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It has been a pleasant Memorial Day with partly sunny skies and just a few, light showers. Overnight, rain chances will go up as an outflow boundary moves showers and storms southeast across the state. We should see these weaken as they near our area but we may be looking at some wet roads for Tuesday morning’s commute. Scattered showers and storms will be possible throughout the day Tuesday. Rain chances will increase midweek.

What are we expecting this week?
We are heading in to another wet and unsettled weather pattern for most of the week, as southerly winds keep moisture in place across SE Texas. Expect a warm, humid, and wet week ahead.

It sure has been raining a lot, hasn’t it?
Yes it has! We’ve seen over 11 inches of rain this month at IAH, that accounts for more than half our rainfall total on the year.

Will the rain chances continue into the weekend?
At the moment, it looks like it. We have in a 60% chance for both days, but it’s possible that this rain chance could go up more. It will depend on timing and location of an upper level low that is expected to move across Texas over the weekend. If you have outdoor plans, make sure you stay weather aware and up to date with our latest forecasts.
